The Rules Studio for placement controls, with rules, hits and the busiest rules
The Rules Studio (illustrative). Four published placement controls, six hits in 30 days, and the busiest rules written as sentences.

A practice’s placement policy usually lives in a procedures document. In InsightDealDesk it lives in the Rules Studio as placement controls — sentences a practice leader can read, test against a real deal and publish.

The controls that ship

ControlWhenEffect
CONFLICTS_NOT_CLEAREDConflicts not cleared and a quote receivedblock
BIND_ABOVE_AUTHORITYLimit above the deal broker’s authorityrefer
LIMIT_ABOVE_ASKSelected limit above what the client askedrefer
RETENTION_OUT_OF_BANDRetention outside 0.5%–1% of EVwarn

What a rule can read

Controls read a context the deal builds: sector, stage, EV, limit asked, conflicts cleared, quotes received, whether a quote is selected and above the ask, retention as a share of EV, limit above the broker’s authority, open diligence gaps, known issues, high findings and binder differences.

The Studio is the same one the rest of the Insight platform uses. A practice that adds a control — say, a refer when a deal closes within a week with high findings unreviewed — writes it as a sentence over these fields, tests it against the live book, and publishes.
